Bienvenue to La Pizza 1789, the wood-fired pizzeria tucked into the Sunset neighborhood of South Miami, a few steps from the heart of the village. Founded by Aurélie and Dominique Bartschies, it’s a French-born, Naples-inspired table built around one thing: a live wood flame that never really goes out. Warm and relaxed, with a simple industrial edge, it’s a room made for lingering  a long lunch, an easy dinner, a glass of wine on the terrace as the afternoon slows. No rush here. That’s the point.

At the heart of it all is the oven. Our dough is made in-house every day and left to rise slowly before it’s baked over a live wood flame, giving each pizza its signature char crisp at the edge, tender in the middle. That same fait maison spirit runs through the whole kitchen: fresh handmade pasta, sauces built from scratch, and seasonal ingredients chosen because they’re good, not because they’re easy. Save room for the homemade tiramisu and don’t leave without trying the wood-fired Nutella pizza, warm, generous, and the one everyone talks about.
